Minda Motorsport signs young Kiwi driver
Minda Motorsport has signed young New Zealand star Michael Scott to join its 2012 driver Formula Ford line-up.
Scott, 17, will contest the Victorian State Formula Ford Championship in a new Mygale SJ011. He is also considering selected drives in the national championship, pending results and form in the state series.
The Minda team, which campaigns the CAMS Rising Stars entries, is now preparing the car with a view to testing before the next state round at Sandown next month June.
Team principle Bruin Beasley says that Scott will be a solid addition to his squad.
“It’s great to have young Michael on board,” he said.
“His speed and results in NZ are impressive and we are all looking forward to getting him on the track.”
Having raced karts for the past six years, Scott has completed a season in both NZ Formula First and Formula Ford. He finished second overall in the latter, winning the Rookie of the Year prize.
Scott has also just been accepted into the NZ elite motorsport academy, alongside eight other promising young drivers. He will attend an intense week-long camp which will focus on physical fitness, nutrition, media skills, psychometric and mental performance.
Scott is thrilled to have signed a deal with Minda.
“Driving with Minda is a great opportunity,” said Scott.
“I’m going to learn a lot, and to be able to work with the likes of (Australian Formula Ford Championship contender) Jack LeBrocq will help me immensely.”
