Auto One V8 Ute Racing Series driver Craig Dontas may be forced to miss the opening round of the 2012 season after enduring a major accident while testing at Calder Park today.

The Thirsty Camel-backed Holden SS Ute suffered a complete brake failure at the Melbourne venue, resulting in a 170km/h head-on impact.

Dontas was subsequently taken to Melbourne Hospital complaining of rib, neck and shoulder soreness.

Should Dontas be fit to race at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide next weekend, it is expected that the South Australian would lease James Brock’s Holden for the event. comment policy
