Tony D’Alberto will embrace social media for the pre-season V8 Supercars test at Sandown Raceway.

The Victorian driver’s team is yet to lock in a major sponsor for 2012, and has decided to use the opportunity to promote its Facebook and Twitter pages on the flanks of his plain white Ford Falcon FG.

The driver’s side will display the Twitter logo, along with his Twitter handle @tonydalberto.

The left hand side of the car will have the famous Facebook signage, with his Facebook page Tony D’Alberto Racing.

The team says that it has locked in considerable amount of its racing budget for 2012, but is still chasing a major backer.

“We considered running just a plain white car, but with so many fans expected at Sandown this weekend, it seemed like a waste to run nothing,” D’Alberto told Speedcafe.com.

“Everybody uses Facebook and Twitter in someway, shape or form, especially the motor racing community. All the drivers are on it, all the teams use it, so hopefully I can get a few extra followers!

“We’re working hard on a major sponsor for this year, but we are pretty comfortable. We have some very good support from current partners, so we are happy.”
