Australian motorcycle daredevil Robbie Maddison has set a new longest jump world record in a unique side-by-side Red Bull: New Year. No Limits event in San Diego.
Maddison and snowmobile racer Levi LaVallee both set new world marks at the same time when they simultaneously jumped through fog across a 91.5-metre water gap in Southern California as part of Red Bull’s now traditional New Year’s spectacular.
Officials measured Maddison’s jump of 115.4430 metres to break his previous certified world record of 107.0610 metres.
LaVallee’s jump of 125.7300 metres on his snowmobile shattered his own record of 110.0328 metres set last December.
The two daredevils roared down long run-in ramps at around 170 km/h and cleared the water gap at Embarcadero Marina Park on San Diego Bay.
LaVallee jumped off his sled and Maddison popped a wheelie after they landed safely.
