Team BOC's Jason Bright has decided against racing at Sandown this weekend.
The injured star driver has a fractured rib and was hoping a nerve block would allow him to race in the Norton 360 Sandown Challenge this weekend.
After deliberating over his injury last night, Bright has decided not to get a nerve block inserted in his side.
Bright has withdrawn from the meeting, handing the #8 entry to his endurance race co-driver Andrew Jones.
Missing these two races at Sandown means that he will have missed three races in a row after pulling out of Symmons Plains' Sunday race.
“It's still just too tender,” Bright told Speedcafe.com.
“The pain that I'm feeling now is worse than Sunday morning at Tassie.
“I was discussing this all last night. I can have the nerve block, but it's not worth it. If we did that, it might impact on Homebush, and that event is more important to us.
“If I was in contention for the championship, I might have taken more risks, but now I can give it the best chance to recover.”
Bright says that his replacement Jones will do a solid job.
“It is always hard jumping in as a non-regular,” Bright said.
“I think he'll go OK. We haven't been super competitive of late, but he'll have all four practice sessions to get up to speed before qualifying tomorrow.”
