Two Australian speedway teens have struck trouble in the UK, being charged with sexual assault after a Coventry Vs. Poole Elite League match.
Double World Under 21 Champion, Darcy Ward (19) and 17-year-old up and comer, Nick Morris are alleged to have sexually assaulted a 17-year-old Coventry girl at a hotel room in Poole back in August.
Morris has been charged with three counts of sexual assault and Ward one.
Ward is due back in Australia next week to compete at the Leigh Adams Benefit meeting at Adelaide's Gillman Speedway on November 26 – nevertheless he and Morris have been ordered to remain in Britain.
It is believed that Ward was about to return to Australia this week, after finishing third in an ice speedway event at Linkkopping last weekend. He had a stellar season in Europe, which included finishing third in his debut Speedway Grand Prix, leading to him being touted as a potential full time contracted SGP rider in 2012 – and winning the Elite League Championship with Poole.
Morris has just begun his British career and has been starring throughout 2011 for Premier League (second division) club, Glasgow and guesting for Coventry – who own his contract.
He has recently drawn interest from a Polish club for 2012.
