Anthony West will make a return to the MotoGP ranks next year, competing with the Speed Master team’s CRT bike.
The 30-year-old Australian confirmed via Facebook that he will make his first start in the premier class since the end of 2008, riding for Kawasaki’s factory team.
Speed Master has been granted an entry into the championship thanks to the Claiming Rule Teams system – one of several Moto2 teams stepping up.
West has spent the last two years riding for MZ in Moto2. The Speed Master team took Andrea Iannone to finish third in Moto2 standings this year.
