V8 Supercars’ promotional video featuring TeamVodafone performing a pitstop on a busy Brisbane street has quickly garnered international attention.
The video, in which Jamie Whincup completes a driver change with Andrew Thompson while the team changes four tyres in Brisbane’s CBD, was released by V8 Supercars this morning in order to promote the upcoming Armor All Gold Coast 600.
In addition to being picked up by various media outlets, the 80 second clip has been shared and discussed by thousands via social media sites including Facebook and Twitter.
Among those to reveal his enthusiasm for the video via Facebook has been Enzo Pastor, who last month became the first Filipino driver to test a V8 Supercar.
Pastor tested with TeamVodafone at Queensland Raceway under the guidance of Mark Skaife, and is aiming to be on the grid should the V8 Supercars Championship visit the Philippines country in 2013.

“The International V8 Supercars Championship pit stop in Brisbane’s central business district yesterday underlines the promotional value of the championship to thousands of everyday consumers,” wrote Pastor on his Facebook page.
“This is one of the cars that I drove at the recent test at Queensland Raceway and I am really excited by the way in which the championship uses these opportunities to connect with its race fans and consumers in general.
“This was done to promote the forthcoming Gold Coast 600 race to fans and the general public in Queensland’s capital city ahead of the race in 10 days time.
“It is a great advert for the sport and shows how consumer brands such as Vodafone and Nokia can translate their sponsorship of the sport into a tangible activity.
“I am sure that millions of people around the world will be watching this and it is amazing for me to think that this is one of the cars that I was driving only a few weeks ago.
“Can you imagine how the new promoters of the race in the Philippines can use something like this to attract crowds in down-town Manila?! Here’s to V8 racing in the Philippines!”
