Wilson Security Racing has taken a light-hearted view on its driver’s serious illness at Phillip Island today.

The single car V8 Supercars team has placed red spots over the bonnet and front bar of the #3 Ford Falcon FG, representing the chicken pox that Tony D’Alberto has contracted.

Taz Douglas will drive in D’Alberto’s place this weekend.

In a statement, D’Alberto said that he was gutted that he’ll miss the race.

“I’m very disappointed that I can’t compete this weekend,” D’Alberto said.

“We had a pretty good day in the car yesterday, but I wasn’t feeling right. I was trying to fight on, thinking I was coming down with the cold or a flu, but I realised last night that things weren’t quite right.

“I’m not sure what hurts more – the pox or the fact that I’m not racing.

“I’m going to hospital now just to get checked over.

“Taz will do a great job for the Wilson Security Racing team. He is very experienced in these cars.”
