Cameron McConville has taken on the role as the GT3 Cup Challenge’s Driving Standards Observer for the rest of 2011 and 2012.

The role adds to McConville’s heavy on and off track schedule. The all-rounder is now an endurance driver for the Toll Holden Racing Team (with James Courtney), a V8 Utes driver for Bundaberg Racing, plus acting as the driver standards observer for Carrera Cup, GT3 Cup Challenge and Formula Ford.

To add to this list, McConville also runs drive days for performance brand HSV.

McConville, who finished on the Bathurst 1000 podium with Garth Tander last year, says that he is pleased to have the driving standards role with both of Porsches’ Australian racing categories.

“The GT3 Cup Challenge has come from doing Carrera Cup,” McConville told Speedcafe.com.

“These guys are amatuer drivers, but you’ve also got some quick guys like Roger Lago and Jeff Bobik. There were some little issues between them early in the season, so I’ve come on board to put some of the Carrera Cup principals in place. Hopefully, they’ll find that consistent if they decide to step up (to Carrera Cup).”
