Ambrose has finished third, second and third in his past three NASCAR Sprint Cup starts at Watkins Glen, but says despite his favourite status, there’s no sure things.

“There are no guarantees of success, so we just have to go there and apply ourselves,” he said.

“We’ve got what I think is a really good car. We’ve tested for the track and we feel good about it. There’s not much we can do aside from turning up and putting our best foot forward.

“It’s been good to me in the past. I know what I need to feel to run fast there. I’m optimistic and confident.”

While his Sprint Cup starts haven’t yielded a win, Ambrose has won the past three Nationwide Series races at the circuit. This weekend, he will not compete in the second-tier class this weekend. CLICK HERE for’s story detailing his decision to sit out of the Nationwide race.
