A wild finish at the NASCAR Nationwide US Cellular 250 in Iowa where Ricky Stenhouse Jr. blew an engine and lost control of his car but still won the race!
As the Ford driver was approaching the chequered flag his car went up in smoke and was slammed into the rear by team-mate Carl Edwards, pushing Stenhouse Jr. across the finish at Iowa Speedway.
Stenhouse, 23, has two career wins, both this year at Iowa. Edwards also ran second in Stenhouse’s victory in May at the seven-eighths-mile oval.
Edwards, who led 109 of the race’s 250 laps, actually lifted Stenhouse’s car as they approached the finish line. Both cars were out of control as they crossed the line. Edwards’ car came to rest against the outside of the pit road wall.
Pole-sitter Elliott Sadler finished third, Josh Wise was fourth and Aric Almirola fifth.
Rounding out the top 10 were Reed Sorenson, Kenny Wallace, Steve Wallace, Michael McDowell and David Mayhew. Sorenson won Nationwide’s Dash4Cash $100,000 prize for the second consecutive race.
