Former Jack Daniel’s Racing V8 Supercars driver Shane Price is set race at Winton’s annual Commodore Cup National Series ‘Endurance Challenge’ this weekend.
Price will drive alongside former karter Danny Buzadzic, cousin of 2006 Commodore Cup Series winner Marcus Zukanovic, in the #66 Western General Body Works VS Commodore.
Price has raced in the Winton Commodore Cup event previously, and is currently without a V8 Supercars endurance drive for this season.
Buzadzic had earlier confirmed to Speedcafe.com that current Team BOC driver Jason Bright was to drive the car, prior to a late change of plans.
“It would have been great to race with Jason, but circumstances changed and that’s the way it goes,” Buzadzic told Speedcafe.com
“I’ve known Shane Price for many years through karting and I’m absolutely rapt to have him on-board.
“He’s a top quality steerer and I’m really looking forward to racing with him this weekend.”
VIP Petfood Racing’s Steve Owen will also be on the grid, re-united with Geoff Emery – having teamed with the multiple champion at the category’s Bathurst round held over Easter.
Fellow Bathurst co-drivers Drew Russell and Simon Evans will also make their second Commodore Cup appearances of the season, while Tony Bates returns with a new car (ex-Axent Racing) after a heavy crash at Bathurst that perforated the title contender’s eardrum.
The Winton round will see the debut of 20-year-old HQ Holden graduate Jordan Symes. From central Victoria, the RMIT engineering student will complete the rest of the season, having recently completed the build of a VS model with the help of his father, former Repco F5000 engine builder, Ken.
The Commodore Cup will race at Winton as part of the Shannons Nationals. Sunday’s racing action will be streamed live over the internet at itvlive.com.au.
