Shane Price has been added to Brad Jones Racing’s endurance driver line-up as a reserve.
After missing out on a regular endurance drive for Phillip Island and Bathurst, the former full-time driver has been picked up by BJR to act as its first reserve, pending the health of Jason Richards, who continues his fight against cancer.
Price is at Winton Motor Raceway today, completing laps in Jason Bargwanna’s Jana Living Racing Commodore VE.
If Richards’ health allows him to be available for the two races, he will partner with Jason Bright, leaving Jason Bargwanna with Andrew Jones.
If Richards is unavailable to compete, it is expected that Jones will join Bright and Price will slot inside Bargwanna’s car.
Price is completing all of his laps at Bargwanna’s car today, while Jones is getting laps behind the wheel of both Bargwanna and Bright’s Commodores.
The team’s third car of Karl Reindler will have Fujitsu V8 Series driver David Wall in the co-driver’s seat.
Price has driven for a variety of V8 teams including Perkins Engineering, Walkinshaw Racing and Tony D’Alberto Racing.
The L&H 500 Phillip Island will be held on September 16-18, followed by ‘The Great Race’ – the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 on October 6-9.
In other BJR news, Reindler is having his first laps today in the team’s newest Commodore VE – WR008 – last raced by Andrew Thompson in Bundaberg Racing colours last year.
Reindler is scheduled to use the car for the remaining events of 2011.
