V8 driver’s mother dies after long cancer battle

The mother of V8 Supercars star Mark Winterbottom’s passed away today after a long fight with cancer.

June Winterbottom, 65, died in Sydney with family alongside her.

Mark Winterbottom, driver of the #5 Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon, confirmed the sad news via his Twitter account earlier this evening.

“Rest in peace mum,” Winterbottom wrote.

“I had the most beautiful and special mum in the world and she will be missed by everyone and never forgotten.”
