Gaunt stars in 60 minute GT feature

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia regular Daniel Gaunt was the class of the field in today’s 60 minute Vodka O Australian GT Championship feature race at Winton Motor Raceway.
After a solid 22 lap opening stint from car owner Dean Grant that saw the Vodka O Porsche GT3 Cup S run fifth before the pitstops started, Gaunt drove the car to the flag – passing Klark Quinn for the lead with just six laps remaining.
Quinn held on for second in his VIP Petfoods-backed Mosler MT900, ahead of a charging Craig Baird (in Marc Cini’s Hallmarc Porsche GT3 Cup S), Mark Eddy (Penfold Audi Sport Audi R8 LMS) and Greg Crick (Jeep Dodge Viper GT3).
Jason Richards had the Ferrari 430 GT3 he shared with Nick O’Halloran up to third before making his pitstop on Lap 19. The Maranello Motorsport entry eventually finished eighth, behind the similar entry of Peter Edwards, and the Mosler of Ash Samadi.
Mark Eddy came out on top in the shorter, single-driver, race on Saturday – sweeping past Tony Quinn’s Aston Martin DBRS9 prior to half distance before cruising to victory.
The Vodka O Australian GT Championship continues next weekend at Eastern Creek Raceway.
