Mackenzie takes Murray Bridge MX

Billy Mackenzie took out the MX Nationals at Murray Bridge

Scotsman Billy Mackenzie took out the latest round of the Rockstar Energy Drinks MX Nationals at Murray Bridge with three moto wins and a third, which places him now just 17 points off the Series lead – this despite coming back from a fractured shoulder in recent months.

The Series lead returned to Dean Ferris – Mackenzie’s Monster Kawasaki team-mate – who won the third moto of the day, denying Mackenzie the clean sweep. He took second for the round.

Taking third overall was Honda-mounted Kiwi, Michael Phillips.

The story from the Pro class though was injuries to key competitors. Ryan Marmont was transported to hospital with an unconfirmed foot injury, whilst brother Jay took fourth for the round with a finger injury.

International racer, Dan Reardon was ruled out of the event early with a wrist injury.

In the Pro Lites class, South Aussie Kirk Gibbs took a clean sweep winning all four motos in his category. His Serco Yamaha team-mate Jake Moss completed the quinella for the blue bikes, whilst current leader, Matt Moss had a shocker of a round, coming home in seventh placing overall. Axis Motorsport Honda rider, Justin McDonald took the final podium placing.

In the Pirelli Under-19’s development category, Errol Willis edged out local racer, Luke Arbon for the win. Victorian Jake Emanuelli – who is in his first full season – rounded out the podium.
