Whincup holds off Bright in Race 9

Jamie Whincup has overcome a strong challenge from Jason Bright to take Race 9 of the V8 Supercars Championship at Barbagallo Raceway.
The championship leader trailed Bright in the early stages of the race but was able to overcome the winner of Race 8 with a better pit stop.
Bright chased Whincup all the way home but could not get close enough to make a challenge.
Garth Tander salvaged a result for the Toll Holden Racing Team, finishing in third place.
Craig Lowndes (TeamVodafone) and James Courtney (Toll Holden Racing Team) finished fourth and fifth, while Steve Johnson (Jim Beam Racing) just edged out Shane van Gisbergen in a frantic dash for the finish line.
Jason Bargwanna (Jana Living Racing), Tim Slade (Lucky 7 Racing) and Greg Murphy (Pepsi Max Crew) rounded out the top 10.
Whincup’s victory sees the TeamVodafone driver extend his lead in the points standings over his team-mate Lowndes.
