Andrew Thompson takes Fujitsu pole in WA

Andrew Thompson has blitzed the field in qualifying for Round 2 of the Fujitsu V8 Supercars Series at Barbagallo Raceway.

The Monster Energy Drink-backed driver set a time of 56.9433s, well ahead of the rest of the field.

Thompson’s time would have been good enough for 17th on the grid in the Championship series.

Supercheap Auto driver Jack Perkins will line-up second, pipping Nick Percat in the last minutes of the session.

Percat (Coates Hire) will line up third from Scott McLaughlin (Fujitsu), David Russel (Jayco), Rodney Jane (Bob Jane T-Marts), Paul Morris (The Green Machine), Ash Walsh (Simpro), Taz Douglas (Fastaz) and Tim Blanchard (Jayco).

The first Fujitsu V8 Series race will be held at 4.40pm this evening.
