West Australian Karl Reindler
V8 Supercars driver Karl Reindler will get some extra Barbagallo Raceway miles under his belt ahead of the Trading Post Perth Challenge next month.
The Fair Dinkum Sheds Racing driver will compete in this weekend’s Sportscar series at his home track, driving a Porsche 997 Cup Car.
It will be the West Aussie’s first race in a Porsche. The car is being prepared by K-Tec Motorsport.
Having never raced a V8 Supercar around the Barbagallo circuit, Reindler says he is competing in this weekend’s state-level meeting to better prepare himself for the V8 round.
“I’ll be racing in a 997 Porsche GT3 Cup car this weekend at Barbagallo thanks to Brendan and the guys down at K-Tec Motorsport here in WA,” Reindler told Speedcafe.com.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to get some miles around the circuit only a few weeks out of the Trading Post Perth Challenge.
“I’ve coached guys in GT3s before but never raced one, so I’m quite excited about that challenge as well. It’s been a long time since I’ve raced at my home circuit, so to do it twice in a month will be a lot of fun.
“It’s a pretty low-key event, and the car was only imported from the UK a couple of weeks ago, so it’s a bit of a shake-down for K-Tec as well – they plan on doing a few more races throughout the year.”
The Trading Post Perth Challenge will be held at Barbagallo Raceway on April 29-May 1.
