Lowndes just one second slower than Button

Craig Lowndes has had his first taste of a Formula One car, completing his scheduled laps in the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes at Mount Panorama today.

After Button set a sub-1m48s lap time in the McLaren, both Button and Lowndes drove the TeamVodafone Commodore VE. Lowndes set a 2m11s, while Button clocked a 2m17s.

The day concluded with Lowndes in the F1 car, setting a time of 1m49s.
