Ambrose listed among favourites for Daytona

Marcos Ambrose shares a laugh with team owner Richard Petty at Daytona
Marcos Ambrose will start this Sunday’s Daytona 500 as one of the favourites, according to TAB Sportsbet.
The betting agency has Ambrose at $21.00 to win ‘The Great American Race,’ placing him ahead of established NASCAR stars including Mark Martin, Ryan Newman, Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle.
As Ambrose was not eligible for last Saturday night’s Budweiser Shootout, the former V8 Supercars champion will have his first race for the year later today when he lines up in the first Gatorade Duel.
The 125 mile qualifying race will be Ambrose’s first for Richard Petty Motorsport, and his first in a Ford since 2008.
According to TAB Sportsbet, Kyle Busch is the favourite to win the 500, paying $9.00 for the win.
Kevin Harvick, who won two of the four restrictor plate races last year, including Daytona’s Coke Zero 400, is also paying $9.00.
Tony Stewart is ranked third ($10.00), ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr, who took pole position in qualifying, but will start from the rear of the grid due to crashing his race car in Wednesday practice (CLICK HERE for separate story).
Jamie McMurray, winner of last year’s 500, is paying $12.00, while reigning Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson is at $13.00.
Both Gatorade Duel races and the Daytona 500 will be shown live on ONE HD. CLICK HERE to view Speedcafe’s Television Times page for further details.
