Marshall close to confirming return to Cup Car

Marcus Marshall is set to confirm a return to the Carrera Cup Series in 2011
Gold Coast resident Marcus Marshall looks set to return to the Australian Carrera Cup Championship this year.
The runner-up in the classes inaugural season (2003), Marshall is close to securing a seat in the series which is returning to the Australian motorsport calendar after a two-year lay-off.
Marshall told Speedcafe.com.au that a few financial hurdles need to be sorted before he can officially lock in his deal.
“It’s pretty much ready to go,” he said.
“I just need to get the final OK on sorting out our sponsorship. We’re pretty close. Everything is ready to go in terms of the car and the team.”
Marshall is one of a handful of top-line drivers confirmed or linked to the reborn series.
Porsche stalwart Craig Baird is locked into competing and will be the benchmark. Yesterday, Michael Patrizi announced his role at McElrea Racing, while Ford Performance Racing endurance driver Steve Richards is also edging closer to securing an entry.
