The 2010 Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships calendar has been finalised following the confirmation of the individual category schedules.

Fifteen categories will race with the Shannons Nationals this year, including the five core categories (Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship, Commodore Cup, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, Australian Manufacturers Championship and Australian Saloon Cars).

The Australian Manufacturers Championship will race the majority of the year with the Nationals, with its six hour endurance race to be held at Eastern Creek on 17-18 July.

Regulars like the Kerrick Sports Sedans, Australian Superkarts and Shannons V8 Touring Cars will continue to contest their 2010 season with the Nationals, while Formula Vee will hold two state championships in South Australia and New South Wales.

The Future Racers will join the Nationals for the first time in 2010, competing at the Wakefield Park and Winton.

Among the categories making one-off appearances throughout the season is the OzDrift GP which will compete at the series’ first round at Goulburn’s Wakefield Park on March 6-7.

Shannons Nationals Series Director, Rob Curkpatrick is excited to have drifting on the program once again.

“We are looking forward to hosting the OzDrift GP as it is another step forward in recognising that drifting is becoming mainstream motorsport,”

“On the whole, we’re really pleased with how the entire category schedule has worked out and looking forward to the year ahead.”

The 2010 Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships kick off next month at Wakefield Park on March 6-7.
