Speedway Wangaratta finish their season this weekend with racing including a huge Sprintcar and Demolition Derby show and for all the family a fireworks display to enjoy to give everybody a fun night out before the long wait until October when Wangaratta Speedway does it all again.
The Sprintcar field includes top competitors Shane Steenholdt, Dennis Jones, Adam Greenwood and Bobby Daly whilst the new kid in the field Dillon Siely who is state champion in Limited Sportsman will also be keen to challenge the top runners.
Compact Speedcars and Grand Prix Midgets return for feature events with the Compacts competing for the Cardwell Cup with Justin Paull the Victorian champ keen to resume battles with Butch Hutchison, Lois Rodriguez and Chris Curren to win the annual Blue Ribbon event.
In the Grand Prix Midgets it is just a week after their Australian title across the paddock at Wahgunyah. Trevor Perry the new Australian champion will lead Travis Florimell and Jason Crawford to battle as the top trio from the national title.
Sports Sedans, Standard Saloons, Ladies Open Sedans and Junior Sedans will support the feature events with their own battles. In particular the Sports Sedans have a strong field with Jamie Paull the Victorian champion, Craig Cottier, Luke Fallon, Rhys Collins and Matt Stampfli all winning finals this season. Cottier is on a roll, however Fallon will be extremely tough to beat though and the Victorian champion Jamie Paull is now back on track having won at Nyora last Sunday.
The Demolition Derby has attracted some of the most insane competitors around and will be a lot of laughs to close out the night along with the Fireworks display that the kids will enjoy.
Gates to enter will swing open at 12pm for fans with racing from 4pm & enquiries can be made to 0427 308 976. The venue operates with a licensed bar & as such BYO is strictly forbidden.
