lesheintz-rowememorial2015-ae3r3653MEDIA RELEASE: Les Heintz says the Rowe Memorial Super Stock Classic is one of the most prestigious events on the calendar or Super Stock diehards.

Doubling as Round 4 of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series and named after celebrated chassis builder Andrew and his brother Wayne Rowe, the Rowe Memorial Super Stock Classic dates back to 1982 with names like Peter Ridgeway, Paul Rodgers, Hans Van Dyk and Peter Sammut etched onto the perpetual trophy.

Heintz has won the event twice in 2004 and 2015 when the race made a comeback to Calder Park Raceway and the home track of the Rowe brothers for the first time in over 10 years.

“Andrew Rowe and Wayne were some of the toughest competitors in Super Stock that you would ever meet,” said Heintz.

“I wouldn’t miss this race for quids because for Super Stock diehards this race has to be the most prestigious race to be part of. I have been very privileged to win it more than once.

“Super Stock is a very tough bracket to win with the quality of drivers and cars that compete.

Thinking back Heintz recalls his memories of both Rowe brothers including a time he was schooled on racing when he thought he had it all figured out.

“I actually met Andrew when he worked at Super Plus and I thought I knew a little about racing until we started talking and realised that these guys knew a damn site more than I ever knew.

“My memories are of a HQ with a BBC and a Crower Injector hanging out of the bonnet. (It) blew me away.

“Andrew building and Wayne driving were just awesome to see. They were the backbone of Super Stock and I hope that Super Stock racers come from everywhere to contest this event.”

The Rowe Memorial Super Stock Classic and Round 4 of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series will be held one day only on Saturday November 19 at Calder Park Raceway.
