Stars of Karting announces expanded TV plans

For the second consecutive year the Castrol EDGE CIK Stars of Karting Series will feature on SPEED

Australia’s elite karting championship, the Castrol EDGE CIK Stars of Karting Series, has announced an expanded television schedule for 2012.

For the second consecutive year the series will feature on SPEED, last year’s broadcast being a one-hour highlights package focused in the final round at Newcastle.  In an expanded coverage from 2011, the 2012 broadcast will be split across four 30-minute programs, three focusing the action in each of the Pro categories and one on the Challenge categories.

Along with extensive coverage of next month’s final round to be hosted by the Go-Kart Club of Victoria at its Port Melbourne venue on September 22/23, each of the four programs will incorporate highlights from the opening four rounds of the championship held at Bolivar, Newcastle, Ipswich and Eastern Creek.

There will also be other special features included in each program, including some technical and historical aspects of the sport of karting.

The broadcasts will be hosted by Chad Neylon and produced by the team at Television Sport International.

Over the past few years, Neylon has been one of the faces of the drag racing telecast on behalf of ANDRA and is developing into one of the country’s most reputable hosts in Australian motorsport.

“I’m delighted to be able to finally lock in the details of the television production for 2012, it’s great to be able to have karting on tv across the country for two years in a row,” said CIK Stars of Karting’s Lee Hanatschek.

“Chad is a perfect fit as a host for the sport of karting, his youthful exuberance mixed with his intimate motorsport knowledge will provide us with a great anchor for the telecasts.

“The expanded telecasts will be able to provide the viewers with a further insight in the finer aspects of our sport but also the people behind the sport as well, while also incorporating more racing action than we were able to in 2011.”

The dates for the telecasts will be finalised over the coming weeks and announced in due course with the four shows expected to air in mid-November.
