CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship
Cameron Shields has taken pole for Races 1 and 3 in Round 6 of Formula 4 despite spending nearly half the session stranded in the infield.
The BRM driver held the fastest time mid-way through the session before a spin saw him watch the final minutes from the inside of the final turn.
Championship leader Nick Rowe will also start on the front row while Tyler Everingham and Ryan Suhle will share row two.
Race 1 (12 laps) takes place tomorrow at 1220 AEST/local time, with the final two races following on Sunday.
Aussie Racing Cars
James Duckworth will start from pole position for the first of four races in Round 5 of Aussie Racing Cars.
Duckworth was fastest for the whole 20-minute session, laying down a 1:43.2906s before the halfway mark to earn his second pole of the season.
He will be joined by Kel Treseder on the front row, with Peter Carr and Craig Woods sharing the second row.
Woods spun at the 10 minute mark when he and team-mate Blake Sciberras came together in an awkward incident at Turn 3.
Woods pitted before coming out again and taking over the fastest third sector for a time, but couldn’t string another whole lap together.
Race 1 (10 laps) will be run tomorrow from 1405, with the next three on Sunday.
Toyota 86 Racing Series
Ben Grice narrowly secured top spot in qualifying for the opening Toyota 86 Racing Series race of the weekend.
Grice bettered Cameron Hill by just 0.025s to take top spot after Hill had proved fastest in both practice sessions earlier in the day.
Trent Grubel proved third fastest in the 33-car field, one spot ahead of Aaron Seton in a field that saw the top six split by less than 0.2s.
Racing gets underway at 1435 tomorrow with a ten lap encounter before two races on Sunday complete round three of the Toyota 86 Racing Series.
