Factory driver Toni Vilander has put the Maranello Motorsports Ferrari on top in Class A qualifying for the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.
Vilander, charged with the chief qualifying duties in the 488 GT3, cemented the top berth with a 2:02.21s lap.
The 20-minute session, which sets the top 10 Shootout runners for later in the afternoon, further highlighted the intensity of competition between the Italian marque and BMW.
Chaz Mostert (MARC Cars BMW M6) produced a stunning lap in the dying stages to claim second fastest in 2:02.40s.
The #60 BMW Team SRM M6 of Marco Wittmann was third in 2:02.63s ahead of the brilliant effort by young charger Matt Campbell (2:02.86s) in the Competition Motorsports Porsche.
The second BMW Team SRM entry driven by Timo Glock was fifth in 2:02.88.
Glock later became involved in a near miss with Alex Buncombe (#23 Nissan) as the pair narrowly avoided contact in the run out of Skyline.
Maxime Soulet was sixth fastest in the Bentley Team M-Sport Continental GT3 while the Walkinshaw #911 Porsche of Earl Bamber was seventh.
Despite sitting out the 20-minute session after sustaining damage in opening qualifying, the #59 managed to secure a spot in the Top 10 Shootout, courtesy of Will Davison's time in Q1 which was good enough for ninth.
It is not yet clear how much damage the McLaren has sustained or if in fact it can be repaired.
The top 10 is completed by the #35 Miedecke Stone Aston Martin in eighth while the #5 GT Motorsport Audi R8 was 10th.
The Top 10 Shootout is scheduled for 1540 local time.
