South Australia’s new motorsport facility, The Bend Motorsport Park, has announced more details of a pit building and hotel complex at the circuit which is currently under construction.

The $20 million pit building and hotel is expected to create 160 jobs during construction with the four-level, 300m long pit building creating the centrepoint for the 7.77km long track which can be configured to four different variations.

“We are determined for The Bend Motorsport Park to become an iconic, world-class destination for South Australia,” said Dr Sam Shahin, Executive Director for The Bend.

“Building the hotel complex into the pit-building is unique in Australia, and one of only a few in the world.

“We are doing this to deliver the best-possible motorsport experience for racers and driving enthusiasts alike, and will grow the adventure tourism sector in South Australia.”

South Australia’s minister for sport and minister for tourism Leon Bignell said: “This development is a game-changer for Motorsport in Australia. It will be like nothing our nation has ever seen before.”

“Not only will The Bend attract motor racing fans and professional and amateur drivers from around the world it will transform the area around Tailem Bend.”

Local South Australian builder, Romaldi Constructions, has been awarded the contract for the 12 month construction project which is expected to be completed in January next year.

As previously reported, the Tailem Bend facility is confident of securing an agreement with the Virgin Supercars Australia Championship from 2018.
