A six-round calendar for the new Formula A Australia open-wheel category has been released, featuring separate summer and winter contests.
To be run by Rob and Liam Curkpatrick, Formula A effectively replaces Formula 3 and will be open to a variety of wings-and-slicks single-seaters.
The series will kick-off with two news events – the 10 Hours of Sydney on January 13-15 and the Wakefield Park Summer Festival on February 18-19.
A three-round Formula A ‘Summer Cup' is then completed at the Sandown Shannons Nationals meeting on April 7-9.
The final three rounds, consisting of the Sydney NSW State Championship round (July 1-2) and Shannons events at Ipswich (August 4-6) and Phillip Island (September 8-10) make up the ‘Winter Cup'.
Separate trophies will be awarded for both the Summer and Winter Formula A Cups, while overall series champions in each class will also be recognised for drivers contesting the full series.
