Mathias Lauda, the son of three-time Formula 1 world champion Niki, will make his Bathurst debut in February’s 12 Hour.
According to a Sportscar365 report, the 35-year-old is set to link with Pedro Lamy and Paul Dalla Lana in a HTP Motorsport Mercedes GT.
It will mark a return to Bathurst for German team HTP, which finished runner-up to Maranello Motorsport in the 2014 race using its SLS.
Blancpain Series squad HTP returned to the Mercedes fold this season following a single year with Bentley.
Lauda, Lamy and Dalla Lana currently share a factory Aston Martin GTE Am entry in the World Endurance Championship.
Prior to moving into GT cars, Lauda’s career included four seasons in the DTM (2006-2009) following a year in GP2.
He raced for Austria in the 2005/06 A1 GP Series, which included an outing at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Confirming the deal to Sportscar365, real estate mogul Dalla Lana says that he’s looking forward to heading to Australia.
“Everyone’s been telling me about it (Bathurst),” he said.
“We all had it on our list, right up there with Nurburgring, as an event to do.
“It’s a great team; they just won the Blancpain GT (Sprint Series). Hopefully we can keep up to their standards.”
