Jenson Button was transferred to hospital for precautionary checks after complaining of an eye irritation in practice for the German Grand Prix.
The McLaren driver visited the Hockenheim circuit's medical centre after being forced to sit out the second half of Practice 2 due to the issue.
McLaren confirmed that Button was then taken to a hospital in nearby Mannheim for a check up.
Button has since received the all-clear from doctors and is set to contest the remainder of the weekend.
It has emerged that a carbon brake fragment had become lodged in his eye.
“On my way back to Hockenheim from the Mannheim hospital for an eye examination, foreign body found & removed. All good for tomorrow,” tweeted Button.
Button ended Friday practice in eighth overall after completing just 16 laps in Practice 2.
The 2009 world champion was 0.138s faster than team-mate Fernando Alonso, who rounded out the top 10.
