Maro Engel is confident the Erebus Motorsport team will repair the #63 entry in time for the third Bathurst 12 Hour practice session after sustaining damage in an accident this morning.
The German lost control of the SLS AMG GT3 and tagged the wall exiting The Cutting early in the 60 minute Practice 2.
Engel said the incident was down to a driver error which has left the car, he is sharing with Bernd Scneider and Austin Cindric, with damage to the right rear toe link and the brake caliper.
“I tagged the wall a little bit exiting The Cutting,” Engel told Speedcafe.com.
“I just got a bit of oversteer and hit the wall on the right and broke the right rear toe link so I decided to stop the car at the top of the mounatain
“It is not the start we were hoping for but hopefully we'll fix it and get back out.
“I certainly hope (will will be out in Practice 3), I don't think it is major damage. Hopefully we can continue the weekend as planned.
“I can't make too many excuses it was a driver error at the end of the day.”
The 90 minute third practice session is due to begin at 12:30 local time.
