Ferrari has moved to distance itself from Mercedes F1 engineer Benjamin Hoyle by confirming that he will not be joining the team in the future.
Following the revelation of the law suit, Ferrari has reitterated that Hoyle did not have a contract with the Maranello outfit and won't be joining the squad in the “forseeable future”.
“Ferrari has stressed the point that Benjamin Hoyle never had a contract with the company, so he will not be joining us in the foreseeable future,” a spokesman from the team told Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport.
Mercedes is demanding that the files are returned to the team, legal fees are paid and that Hoyle is prevented from joining any F1 team until after 2016.
The operation also demands that an injunction is served to stop Hoyle from using the information.
