The Kumho V8 Touring Car Series will conclude its 2016 season with a maiden appearance at Sydney Motorsport Park’s Muscle Car Masters.
Now moved to October, the Muscle Car meeting completes the new Kumho calendar which, as recently reported, will feature at two V8 Supercars events for the first time.
The third-tier V8 Supercars category had run exclusively with the Shannons Nationals since its inception in 2008.
Just two Shannons events remain on the new-look Kumho schedule, with appearances at Sandown in April and Phillip Island in September.
The V8 Supercars meetings are scheduled for Winton in May and Queensland Raceway in July.
Category manager Liam Curkpatrick says the Muscle Car Masters is a solid fit for the Kumho series, which will welcome VE Commodores and FG Falcons into its fold next year.
“Muscle Car Masters is an exciting addition to the calendar given it’s such a big event that has become a must-see part of the Australian racing calendar,” said Curkpatrick.
“Continuing with the Shannons Nationals is important too given it has been the home of the series since the very beginning nearly a decade ago.
“Our competitors enjoy racing at the Shannons rounds and we look forward to working with CAMS in their role as new category managers of those events.
“The recent news that we’ll be racing at V8 Supercars events has also been very well received too and the feedback from all parties involved has been very positive.”
