Mark Webber and Timo Bernhard have combined to land their #17 Porsche 919 on pole for Round 6 of the World Endurance Championship at Fuji.
Webber and Bernhard, who will be joined by Kiwi Brendon Hartley for tomorrow's 6 Hour race, realised a combined time of 1:22.78s.
The #18 919 Hybrid of Marc Lieb and Romain Dumas will start second after posting a combined time of 1:23.12s in the 20-minute session reserved for LMP machines.
Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer were bumped off the front row in the #7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro as they try to defend a slender 10-point lead from the #17 Porsche which is hunting for three consecutive wins.
The #8 Audi will start beside its sister car ahead of the #1 Toyota TS040 Hybrid of Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima.
G-Drive scored another pole with the #26 Nissan-powered Ligier of Sam Bird and Julien Canal from the sister #28 machine.
Davide Rigon and James Calado put the Ferrari F458 Italia on the GTE Pro pole while the Corvette C7 of Giancarlo Roda, Paolo Ruberti and Nicolai Sylvest headed the GTE Am times.
