Hyundai has offered a preview of its latest generation i20 hatch that will take on the 2016 World Rally Championship.
Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the i20 is based on the new generation road-going variant and is deep into development testing for next season.
Unveiled alongside its new Hyundai N performance division, the i20 WRC is said to feature optimised weight distribution, superior aerodynamics and greater powertrain efficiency.
The five-door i20, which will replace the existing three-door rallying variants, continues to undergo exhaustive testing and development ahead of its debut in the opening round of the 2016 WRC at Monte Carlo in January.
Hyundai consolidated its number two position in the manufacturers' standings following Coates Hire Rally Australia last weekend spearheaded by a fifth place from Kiwi Hayden Paddon.
After a 10-year hiatus, Hyundai re-entered the WRC last year with its star signing Thierry Neuville taking a surprise maiden win for the Korean marque in Rally Germany.
