Red Bull Racing will undergo engine changes for both Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat at this weekend's Italian Grand Prix.
The Milton Keynes squad had hinted a move to install their sixth Renault power units of the season ahead of the visit to high speed Monza circuit.
As a result Ricciardo and Kvyat will be hit with a 10 place grid drop penalty for the second time this season after Red Bull originally exceeded their power unit allowance at the Austrian Grand Prix in June.
“We'll be taking a penalty this weekend with both cars, which will be power unit six,” team boss Christian Horner told Autosport.
“We're out of mileage on the units we've got, and we need to do what we can to get to the end of the year.
“We've decided to take it tactically at Monza because it's a track where you are flat out for 75 per cent of it, so of course it's not going to be our strongest circuit of the year.”
The news follows an expected engine change for Carlos Sainz in the sister Toro Rosso outfit, who is also set for his sixth power unit of the campaign.
