Hankook has become the official tyre supplier for the Sidchrome Extreme Rallycross Championship after completing a three-year-deal with the new series.
The Korean tyre manufacturer will supply all competitors with 17-inch Ventus tyres for the new seven round championship, which is headlined by the renowned Super Lite class.
Hankook's latest involvement in Australian motorsport follows an exclusive tyre deal with the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship.
Chosen following a successful test day held in May, the tyres will complete their maiden competitive outing when the championship begins at Queensland's Lakeside Raceway from September 4-5.
“This is the kind of spectacle Australian motorsport needs,” said Hankook Tyre Australia motorsport manager Dean Evans.
“Rallycross is undoubtedly the next big thing in global motorsport, and now that we have an Australian version, Hankook wanted to be a part of it from the start.”
Championship promoter David Ridden believes the partnership will play a key role in the series' maiden season.
Former world rally ace Alister McRae is currently the only driver confirmed for the championship's Super Lite class.
“We are very pleased to have Hankook Tyre on board for the next three seasons as one of our key sponsors,” added Ridden.
“The Ventus tyre by Hankook is an excellent choice and proved reliable as a performance tyre at our test race days.
“With Australia's fastest growing tyre manufacturer and the world's fastest growing motorsport, the future of Extreme Rallycross racing looks very promising.”
