French driver Simon Pagenaud has been confirmed as the fourth driver in an extended Team Penske cast for the 2015 IndyCar season.
Pagenaud will drive a #22 Team Penske Chevrolet although a sponsorship package for the entry is yet to be outlined by the squad.
The 30-year-old will join the recently crowned IndyCar Series champion Will Power, 2014 runner-up Helio Castroneves and Juan Montoya, who finished fourth in his first season back in the open-wheel series.
Pagenaud moves after a three-year stint with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports which saw him finish fifth in the 2014 series.
“Simon Pagenaud is a very talented, focused and determined driver,” team owner Roger Penske said.
“We know how tough he has been to compete with over the last few seasons and we are very happy to welcome him to Team Penske starting in 2015.
“With Simon coming on board to join Will, Helio and Juan, we feel we have four drivers very capable of winning on any given weekend and four guys who are legitimate championship contenders.”
Pagenaud is coming off a strong season which saw him win the maiden Indy road course race and a win on the now axed Houston street race.
The switch now paves the way for some shuffling of the IndyCar deck chairs with Andretti Autosports incumbent James Hinchcliffe linked to a possible move to SPM.
