After a hectic day and night of testing all is set for the Verizon IndyCar Series finale at the Auto Club Speedway at Fontana this weekend.
Teams have been putting the finishing touches to their machines for the final race of the season at the southern California superspeedway venue.
Speedcafe.com is on the ground at the track this weekend as Will Power strives for his first IndyCar title.
Power goes into the 500 mile (804km) race with a 51-point buffer from fellow Team Penske driver Helio Castroneves with Simon Pagenaud, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Scott Dixon (103 points adrift of Power) also remaining in mathematical contention.
There are a total of 104 points up for grabs at the final weekend of the series.
Like Power, Castroneves and Pagenaud (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports) are striving for their first IndyCar Series titles.
The mighty Penske operation has been without a title since Sam Hornish jr in 2006.
Penske, which remains the subject of a possible entry into V8 Supercars next season, designed and built the Fontana speedway which held its first IndyCar (CART) race in 1997.
The venue was on-sold to International Speedway Corporate (ISC), a company majority owned by NASCAR’s France family and which controls 13 active tracks in North America.
