Aidan Wright will make his GT racing debut in the Audi R8 LMS Cup.
Fresh from winning the inaugural Formula Masters China Series Wright is looking forward to making his mark against some of the best competitors in Asia.
“It should be a great year of racing with Audi. I am hoping to do well amongst the best drivers in Asia and show my full potential,” Wright said.
“My goal now is to make a name for myself in the GT category and achieve the highest of results”.
Wright tested an Audi R8 LMS Cup car at the Zhuhai circuit last month.
“Aidan is one of the biggest motorsport talents in Asia and we are very excited to have him with us for the 2014 season of the Audi R8 LMS Cup”, Rene Koneberg, Director of Audi Sport Customer Racing Asia, said.
The exclusive Audi R8 LMS Cup includes 12 races over six race weekends.
Wright will race alongside Asian motorsport stars including former Macau GP winner Andre Couto and former Formula One and one-time V8 Supercar driver, Malaysian Alex Yoong.
Others include Chinese hopeful Cheng Congfu, the Audi R8 LMS Cup champions from 2012 and 2013, Marchy Lee and Addely Fong (both from Hong Kong) as well as former DTM driver Rahel Frey from Switzerland.
The 2014 season kicks off at the Korean International Circuit in Yeongam from May 17-18.
