Expectations that Eric Bana will race in this year’s Bathurst 12 Hour have intensified ahead of a planned racing announcement from the Hollywood actor on Tuesday morning.
The star posted on social media website Twitter today (Monday) that “I’ll have some exciting 4 wheel news tomorrow, stay tuned”.
Experienced in both tarmac rallying and circuit racing, Bana made his most recent appearance in the Bathurst 12 Hour in 2010, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X alongside long-time friend Peter Hill.
Hill, who played the role of executive producer on Bana’s own Love the Beast movie in 2009, is yet to confirm the identity of his third driver for this year’s 12 Hour.
The entrepreneur has entered a Lamborghini Gallardo LP520 in Class B, with Hill and fellow gentleman racer Simon Middleton listed as drivers.
Bana tested the Lamborghini last November at Phillip Island, Tweeting “time for another @Bathurst12hour??” from the circuit.
Later that month, a firestorm of media excitement about a potential Bana appearance in the 2015 Bathurst 12 Hours was triggered by a Tweet from Mark Webber.
Bathurst organisers released a 50-car entry list for the February 7-9 event this morning featuring an impressive array of international GT stars.
