Dick Johnson Racing is celebrating 30 years since its tumultuous 1983 James Hardie 1000 campaign by running a retro livery on its Chaz Mostert/Dale Wood entry at this weekend’s Supercheap Auto 1000.
The weekend will also see Johnson return to the wheel of the Falcon that took him to the following year’s Australian Touring Car Championship.
Chaz Mostert meanwhile is making some history of his own, becoming the first Australian since the inaugural Great Race in 1960 to debut in the famed event with an Australian Touring Car Championship/V8 Supercars Championship race victory already under his belt.
New Zealander Robbie Francevic is the only other driver in history to debut at Bathurst as an ATCC race winner, achieving the milestone in 1985.
