Australia’s first world championship Grand Prix driver, Tony Gaze, left a $50,000 donation to the Australian Motor Sport Foundation in his will, CAMS has revealed.
A decorated fighter pilot during World War II prior to his motor racing exploits, Gaze passed away in July, aged 93.

An initiative of CAMS, the AMSF has existed since 2001 with the purpose of helping young Australians reach the pinnacle of world motorsport.
Past recipients of AMSF support internationally have included Will and James Davison, who are step-grandchildren of Gaze.
AMSF chairman Geoff Morgan expressed his gratitude at the donation, made jointly between Gaze and his late wife Diana Davison.
“It is indeed an incredibly generous gift from Tony and Diana and the Foundation is extremely grateful,” said Morgan.
“The Davison and Gaze families quite rightly hold a very important place in Australian and International motor sport history.”
The AMSF’s current programs include the CAMS Rising Stars and AMSF Rookie Rising Stars.
