The 2011 Bathurst 1000 winner Nick Percat will join forces with Dunlop V8 Supercars Series regular, Rodney Jane for the bumper Rennsport event at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.

Percat (Coates Hire Porsche) said Jane was a natural choice given his vast experience of many reasons racing in the one-make Porsche category before moving into the V8 Supercar Development Series with the Sonic outfit.

“Our driving positions are identical, I’m really happy to have Rodney on board and very confident we’ll have a good showing (at Rennsport),” said Percat, who has also announced the arrival of Pirtek Fluid Solutions as a new backer for the remainder of the Carrera Cup season.

“We’ve had a fast car all year and been on pole by pretty big margins in the first two rounds, so we definitely have good car speed. I am pretty confident heading to Sydney Motorsport Park and the rest of the year.”

Jane is ready for the challenge of the twin 60-minute two-driver races at the western Sydney circuit formerly known as Eastern Creek.

“It was nice to get back into a car that has a different grip level and handles very differently to a V8 Supercar,” he said.

“I was lucky enough that Nick asked me to drive with him. It’s the first time I’ve driven one of these (model) Cup Cars and it’s a step up.”

The addition of Pirtek to the South Australian’s Team BRM entry further expands the company’s involvement in sporting sponsorship.

After being away from motorsport following their successful involvement with Marcos Ambrose in his Championship years, the family owned international company returned this year to support Casey Stoner’s efforts in the Dunlop Series.

“It’s great to have another major Australian corporation like Pirtek supporting us alongside Coates Hire and Morris Finance,” Percat added.

“We’ve got some really good backing and I couldn’t be happier.”

Rod Chapman, general manager of Sales and Marketing at Pirtek said: “We are thrilled to be in a position to continue our association with motorsport and more importantly excited at the opportunity to support a young rising star in Nick Percat. We also get to partner with long time business associates in Coates Hire.”
