West Australian driver Adam Marjoram has secured a full-time drive in the 2013 Auto One V8 Ute Racing Series – protected by Armor All.
The Perth young gun has secured backing from Auto One, with the automotive retail company electing to take on Marjoram for the complete season and dropping its ‘Wildcard' program.
Over the past two seasons, V8 Utes have entered a car for a guest driver to compete in, which has included the likes of Chris Atkinson, Dean Canto, Jason Bargwanna, David Besnard and Charlie O'Brien.
Marjoram, 19, will have his car prepared by Williams Race Tech – the same team that Tony Longhurst will drive in this year.
After driving the Auto One Wildcard at Barbagallo Raceway last year, Marjoram says he is ready to step up to a full-time ride.
“I drove in the Shannons Nationals last year in the Porsche GT3 Challenge, but this will be my first season on the main stage,” he said.
“I'm really keen and I can't thank Auto One enough for the opportunity to be on the grid. “My goal for the year is to learn the tracks and to go for Rookie of the Year title. I just want to do it right for Auto One and repay the favour that they have given me.
“I jumped in at Winton last Friday and learnt a lot. It was great to familiarise myself with the ute again. Since I last drove it at Perth, they have updated the brake package and I could really feel the difference.”
Marjoram will start the season at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide on February 28-March 3.
