Long-time V8 Utes driver Andrew Fisher has given an up-and-comer a test in his Jesus Racing Ford at Wakefield Park recently.
West Australian karter Matt Trawinski enjoyed his first taste of a V8 Ute, steering the #19 Falcon on a hot day at the Goulburn circuit.
Fisher was on hand for the day to offer advice to the rookie Ute driver, saying that he was pleased with Trawinski’s efforts on the day.
“I love having the opportunity to share what I have learnt and see the young guys improving”, said Fisher.
“The Utes can be a challenge to drive and are very different to what they are used to driving, but Matt did a great job in the hot conditions”
Trawinski, 16, started racing karts six years ago and has recently moved to the Gold Coast where he hopes to forge a career in Australian motorsport.
“It was very hot in the car, however I enjoyed the day and edged closer to race times throughout, building confidence in the car every lap,” he said.
“It was a really great day, it was a lot of fun and I really appreciate the opportunity that Jesus Racing gave me and I definitely learnt a lot from ‘Fishtail’.
“To receive this opportunity, especially in a car such as a V8 Ute is fantastic. To be aged just 16 and already driving a big V8 Ute brings me one step closer to my ultimate goal, to reach the V8 Supercars Championship.”
