V8 Supercars driver Taz Douglas has given his time to a young cancer sufferer at Surfers Paradise today.
The Team iSelect driver – a cancer survivor himself – was sounded out by the family of young Chris Richardson, currently undergoing treatment for Osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer in teenagers.
Douglas took time out before today’s V8 Supercars Championship race to show Chris around his team’s pit facility, inside his Holden Commodore and through pit lane.
As well sat the pit tour, Dynamite Solutions offered Chris and his family corporate tickets for Friday at the track.
“I’ve been through it, heaps of people go through it, and you have to take it day by day during treatment and recovery,” Douglas told Speedcafe.com.
“To be able to break those days up and have something new happen is what you need, so to have him come out here, sit in the car, it’s no stress for me. It’s what you need when he’s going through this part of his life.”
Chris has his own appeal – ‘Help Chris Conquer Cancer.’ CLICK HERE for more information on Chris’ cancer fight.
The Team iSelect has joined in to help support Chris’ fight by running branding on the #30 Commodore this weekend.
